Warmly lit two-storey family home at golden hour

Homeowner education & documentation

Know where everything is — before you ever need it.

We visit your home, identify and label the components you can reach yourself — water shutoffs, electrical panels, heating equipment and more — then photograph and document where they are in a personalized reference manual.

An education and documentation service — not home inspections, condition or compliance assessments, repairs or alterations.

FAQ

Common homeowner questions

Straight answers about what the service covers, what you receive, and how booking works.

What happens during a visit?

Kelsey walks through your home with you, identifies the accessible components you can safely reach — such as water shutoffs, electrical panels and heating equipment — and applies durable labels. Depending on the tier, she also photographs the components and builds a personalized home layout booklet with what-to-do procedures.

Is this a home inspection?

No. Explain My Home provides homeowner education and documentation only. We do not assess the condition, code compliance or market readiness of any building system, and we do not replace a licensed home inspector.

Do you offer repairs, servicing or alterations?

No. We identify, label and document existing accessible systems. We do not perform repairs, servicing, installation or alterations of any kind.

Which components are documented?

Typical components include main water shutoffs, electrical panels and breakers, heating equipment, and other homeowner-accessible shutoffs or controls. The exact list depends on your home and what you can safely access.

Should the homeowner be present?

Yes. Visits are homeowner-guided so you find each component yourself at least once. This hands-on approach is what makes the documentation useful in a real moment.

What do I receive after the visit?

Walk Through includes labels applied during the visit. Essentials and Complete add photographs, a home layout booklet, written procedures, home-care guidelines and a maintenance calendar, depending on the tier.

What happens after I request a preferred date and time?

Submitting the form opens your email client with a pre-filled inquiry. Kelsey will reply to confirm availability and send a service agreement outlining what is and is not included. Your appointment is not confirmed until you hear back and the agreement is in place.
